Meet Canyon

What's up! I'm Canyon Whiteside, a 16-year-old competitive freeride skier from Utah. I've been skiing since I was one year old, and Snowbird has always been my home mountain.

Growing up skiing Little Cottonwood Canyon has given me a passion for steep terrain, deep powder, and finding new lines. I'm a member of the Altabird Freeride Team and compete in the junior freeride circuit.

Last season, I spent 100 days on snow doing what I love most — skiing, competing, and pushing myself to improve.

A legacy worth carrying forward

Honored to be the first

2026–27 Inaugural Ski for T Award Recipient

Snowbird Sports Education Foundation (SBSEF)

I'm incredibly honored to be the first recipient of the Ski for T Award, established in memory of Tanner Baran.

This award recognizes young freeride athletes who share a passion for skiing, a commitment to progression, and respect for the mountains and skiing community.

Being selected as the inaugural recipient means a lot to me. I'm proud to be part of something that honors Tanner's legacy and celebrates the sport we love.

Beyond the mountain

When I'm not skiing, I'm still chasing adventure. I play football, mountain bike, and race BMX. Whether I'm on snow, dirt, or the football field, I love competing, pushing my limits, and finding new challenges.
